Diezani’s brother escapes abduction in Bayelsa

The Bayelsa state Police command yesterday foiled an attempt to kidnap, Mr Egedegu Agama, the brother of the former minister of petroleum, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke.
Four suspects fingered in the attempted kidnap were arrested on their way to Yenaka community where Agama resides.
Checks indicated that the Police was aware of the kidnap plan and had deployed its intelligence officers to monitor the movements of the four suspects.
Investigations revealed that a Police team deployed to the Marine base, Yenaka immediately arrested the four suspects.
Those arrested include Bethel Alasuo and Jackson Ofolo both from Odewari community, Ezibor Ibilo from Gbarain community and Funpere Kpou from Gbarantoru community.
The spokesman of the Bayelsa state Police command, Mr Ansim Butwats confirmed the incident and said investigation is on-going.
“The Police recovered, one Makarov Para Pistol, two t-shirts with the inscription ‘SECURITY’ at the back and two Bandanas that can be used as face mask. The suspects have been detained in State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department. Investigation is ongoing.”
