NDE Predicts Rise in Kidnapping, Robbery in Nigeria




The National Directorate of Employment has predicted an imminent rise in kidnapping, robbery, prostitution and youth restiveness in the country, if majority remained unemployed.

To check the trend, it has empowered 638 youths in Anambra State through cash grants and training.

Director-General of the agency, Olakunle Obayan forecast the rise in social vices among the youth at the opening ceremony of “Start Your Own Business” training of the directorate held in Awka, the Anambra State capital on Monday.
The Federal Government has promised to provide jobs for 5, 000 youths. It opened a website for graduates to apply for jobs but there are no indications that the youths are taking the opportunity.
