A Nigerian Photographer, Ayo Akinwande decided to explore a theme tagged Òrékeléwà (which translates to “Beauty” in the Yoruba language) as part of his ‘Women Of Africa’ project Xclusive to SJBlogs Nigeria
The talented photographer was motivated by the need to capture the true essence of the African woman across all spectrums, and counter misconceptions and depictions of women from the continent in images of poverty, starvation and misery.
THE VISUALS UTILISED MODERN-DAY GADGETS AND ACCESSORIES IN TRADITIONAL SETTINGS AND LANDSCAPES TO CREATE A UNIQUE NARRATIVE OF JUXTAPOSITION, WITH THE IMAGES PLAYING THE ROLE OF BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN THE OLD AND THE NEW.
