Thanks to Celebrity Photographer, TY Bello, for inspiring other young proficient Nigerians to discover raw talent, and nurture them to bringing out their best, the likes of Kelechi Amadi-Obi, a renowned City Photographer, and Publisher, may have summoned courage to make another Nigerian dream come true.
Barely eight months after Olajumoke Orisaguna, mother of one, was transformed from a bread seller to the most sought after model in Nigeria, Amadi-Obi, has also discovered another diamond called Bolaji, on the streets of Lagos.
This time it is not a bread seller, but a pillow seller.
The circumstances surrounding the pillow seller’s discovery are similar to that of Olajumoke, whose story captured global attention, after she was accidentally photographed with British-Nigerian Rapper, Tinie Tempah, during a photoshoot by Bello.
Narrating his experience in a Facebook post, Amadi-Obi, who doubles as Editor-in-Chief of Mania Magazine, wrote: “Some weeks back, I was shooting @jidenna on broad street, Lagos, and in between takes, I saw her across the street selling pillows.”
Unlike TY Bello, who launched an internet search for Olajumoke after she photobombed her photoshoot in Yaba, Amadi-Obi said he immediately called Bolaji, and gave her his number.
“If you’re interested in modeling, please give me a call,” he told her.Bolaji, who is truly a beauty to behold, did not hesitate to give possibility a try. Unlike most dashing girls who could have told the Photographers off, or likely thought it was another gimmick to get them laid, Bolaji honoured the invitation.
“Well she came to the studio, and I called my number one MUA (make-up artist) @bimpeonakoya, and this is what we came up with”. “I think she will make a great model. What do you think?” Amadi added .
We believe Bolaji will make a beautiful model, because she looks effortlessly stunning in photos, like she was born to do it. We however, hope she would not be another ‘use and dump’ case, just for publicity stunts.
Amadi-Obi is a Lawyer turned Photographer, and Painter. His works have been featured in exhibitions within and outside Nigeria.
